I am very interested in this. The only thing I have heard aobut
Ethiopian music was that when Tom Waits started to change musical direction
in 1982-3, he was listening to alot of Ethiopian music and Captain
Beefheart. ALso, I downloaded a song called,
Burundi Black
Which is the same background drumming that Joni used on The Jungle Line.
Some producer, placed a synth bassline and keyboard line on top of it, but
it is fun to listen to.
