I think Marcel's take on this is probably pretty close. And, Bob, you're
observation about "Midway" makes me think of "Carnival in Kenora" - "one
kiss can sometimes make you feel like a spinning ferris wheel". At the same
time, I'm thinking of Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain" - "with the barkers and
the colored balloons" Joni, of course, responded with "Circle Game" - "and
the painted ponies go up and down, we're captive on a carousel of time"
I see a real carnival/amusement park theme here - and it's one Joni
continues up to recently with "Harlem in Havana."
Sorry if I don't have the quotes exact - I'm just being too lazy to go look
them up.
