I have to agree with Alison. My husband, gave up alcohol, cocaine and
heroin for good almost 16 years ago. He has tried many times,
unsuccessfully, to give up smoking. The miracle is he hasn't smoked
since Thanksgiving Day last year! But he still craves it every
day..dreams about it frequently. With him it took a real
spritual/personal motivation in both cases, to give them up. For drugs
he realized it was his last chance, he would die if he didn't stop.
With the cigarettes now, he has found a passion that he wants to pursue
intensely, so he wants to make sure he sticks around the planet long
enough to do that. Cross your fingers that he keeps up with it. I'd
like him to be around a lot longer too.
