While I understand the seriousness of this discussion - not a thread - I
want to say something about the term "lurker". I am one, but it makes me
feel maladroit.
I think we should search the JM lyrics for a suitable synonym

Cool school. I don't mind being on a sublist- I just don't want to be
monitored for random flaminess or other flamboyant fun; however genteel, or
gent(i)le, that monitoring may be.
