Years ago, when "Trio" came out, I bought it on CD. Do you remember this
project? I was a joint project of Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, and most
significantly, Dolly Parton.
The sound of the CD, or my entry-level, early digital player, or the
combination, were really hashy. Dolly's incredible, G*d given vibrato
sounded a little like a playing card in a bicycle spokes, or like someone
shuffling cards, or an FM radio playing inter-station hiss and being turned
up and down real fast. It was..... pretty miserable. I traded the CD to a
country music fan but I missed the music. I resolved to pick it up on vinyl
if I ever ran across it.
Yesterday I found a mint copy at the so-called antique mall on vinyl
for...... (wait for it)...... $3 and the sound is wonderful. I wish I had
kept the ratty old CD so I could do the demo for friends.
