Seeing all this discussion brought back memories for me - I love that movie,
and I haven't seen it in years. (But I have ALL the Cat Stevens albums - the
songs in H&M are actually contained on 3 different albums).
Many years ago there was a "repertory" cinema in my neighborhood - they
showed lots of "art" films, older films, campy cult films, etc, and the
program changed every 2 days. It was usually a double feature, 2 Bergman
films or 2 Fellini films or even 2 Errol Flynn movies - a popular double
bill there was "Captain Blood" and "Adventures of Robin Hood". The audience
was usually full of film freaks, the admission was cheap, and the
concessions were reasonable, so I was usually there 2 or 3 times a week.
One of the double features they showed on a regular basis - every other
month or so - was "Harold and Maude" and "King of Hearts". I tried to be
there every time they showed these films. If you aren't familiar with "King
of Hearts", check it out without further delay. It's a charming French film
starring Genevieve Bujold and Alan Bates(I didn't know Bates spoke French).
I'm not sure when it was made, probably 1970ish, like H&M. It's a sweet and
gentle comedy about the inmates taking over the asylum, and like H&M, it has
a very life affirming message. Two very different movies, but they were a
perfect complement.
Sorry to ramble, but ahhh, the memories.
