That was the Ayatollah Khomeini. I believe the
current Ayatollah (whose name I can't recall at the
moment) is much more moderate and revoked the fatwa.
But then of course, some people probably wouldn't have
heard of this and, like followers of any religion or
belief system or what-have-you, there would quite
likely be those who wouldn't accept the revocation of
it either. Poor Salman Rushdie - what a way to live!
