I think "exxon blue and radiation rose" represents color and the 
flower.  I think these colors are chosen to hide the mistakes made by 
these two entities.  Mistakes were made by Exxon, but those mistakes 
were trying to be smoothed over by the color blue.  Radiation leaks 
are never major and we shouldn't panic as exclaimed by the flower 
rose.  Since you can't see immediate damage by radiation...hence the 
rose is still living, then the leak was a minor problem.  We all are 
guilty of trying to smooth things over.  You know, like little white 
lies to your parents.
