i dont know what is REST too . but ruby on rails work under the MVC design pattern .... using REST in ruby is connected directly to the software design of ruby and its architecture . Ruby separates every thing in groups ... models , view and controls ... try to understand what the MVC is .. then u can know what is rest and why ruby on rails use it .. rest separates the resources .. thats mean data is separated .
