Thats strange Adam. you cant remember many of your teachers? I would have thought that was impossible.
Talking about Ayoola, I think he was a great man. As you rightfully pointed out, we younger ones did not see him as soooooooo baaaaaaad. I guess he made some rash decisions in the past and realized there was a need to slow down. We were luckier. He is human and like you have forgiven him, I am sure many others would have. His son Goke was my School Father too so maybe i have to be a bit partial there. May his Soul Rest in Perfect peace. He is human. Trust me. Well who knows what state Command would have been if he had not been that firm. Compared to some after him. I must say he was in grip of the situation. Flawless (well almost). If you missed Ayoola, I think you missed out. Anyway, thats my take. ----- Original Message ---- From: Sagai John Adam <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, January 4, 2008 7:29:35 PM Subject: Re: [Jos Commandos] Most Memorable Teacher Down the Lane !!!! Hi, @John: You have a good memory. I can't remember most of my Teachers, but I remember Dr. Mrs Falade drilling us in English because the '85 Set didn't do too well.... and we passed! One Teacher I do remember is my worst Teacher: the Physics Teacher in my Form 5 who used to come from UniJos. He used to fail me so much I never really understood why. Even my poor Physics knowledge (and carry-overs) in University was because of the man. He made me not to have the basics of Physics even today. I remember he used to give me 0/30! How can someone write a test and score 0? Haba! I must have written something! I just got discouraged. Meanwhile, the Biology and Geography Teachers encouraged me and I ended up with A1's. I still owe my Bio Mistress a nice lace and a thank-you card. May God Bless her. I can't remember her name... she was smallish... I think from Edo. I hear she has been transferred to CSS Ibadan. God Bless u Ma! I met "Mr. Bongos", the Music Teacher, during my recent trip to CSSJ for the 30th Anniversary. He it was that gave a lot us a very bad impression of being "born-again" . Instead of exihibiting love, he was one of the most rigid Teachers ( many would use the word "wicked" Teachers) . Because of that, I associated being "born-again" with him and refused to be born-again all thru my University days. Mr Bongos became synonymous with being "born-again" to my little impressionable mind. Imagine if he had be a loved Teacher and how that would have helped the gospel. I would have been born again right from CSSJ. And, believe me, IF I HAD BEEN BORN AGAIN IN UNIVERSITY, I would have made a 2nd Class Upper! Finally, most of '86 Set will agree that the most horrible man we have come across was Commandant Ayoola. He expelled so many of us and caused scars in our young hearts. But, interestingly, some of the younger Commandos after us loved him. I remember we had some disagreements during our COJOSA meetings years ago in Abuja over Lt Col Ayoola. They said he was good because he instilled disciplined. We said he was bad because he expelled so many of our mates. But, he is gone and we have our life ahead of us. Our '86 Set have united ourselves together -whether you were expelled by Ayoola or not, we are one. We were one from September 1981 when we came in and we cannot abandon ourselves just because some of us were expelled in Form 4 or 5 (some in 2nd Term of Form 5 a few weeks before our WAEC! ) And I have forgiven Lt Col Ayoola. I think the lesson is: Encourage the little brats because they have loooong memories when you are harsh on them. Food for thot for any one who Teaches today. stay blessed, Adam John ('86, Tiger House) ----- Original Message ---- From: johnakadang <johnakadang@ yahoo.com> To: JosCommandos@ yahoogroups. com Sent: Friday, January 4, 2008 6:18:38 PM Subject: [Jos Commandos] Most Memorable Teacher Down the Lane !!!!
