I want to see this slightly differently though. There were certainly
memorable teachers, but there were others who impacted my life the most and
will remain unforgetable, even though i may not readily recall their names.

Top on my list is my Form Teacher in class four. I was in Class four B. She
is was who challenged me, well the whole class actually, when she, while
handing us our report sheets at the end of our second term (we had two first
terms due to the change in the academic calender in 1987) wondered why the
first position in class (which happened to be my humble self) should be 16th
overall. I took it as a personal challenge and the next term, came third
overall. This result made it possible for me to make the JETS team that
represented Plateau state in 1988 finals, my most noble achievement in Command.
I may not remember her name but she remains one person i will never forget.
That challenge has brought me where i am today.

Next on my list will be our able commandant, Col. Ayoola. Being a member of
the only set that spent his entire term with him, i believe he did more for us
as a whole. Yes, we saw him as a strict disciplinarian and hated it then,
especially as he even gave me the nickname ELECRTICIAN, today with the benefit
of hindsight, Ayooo shaped us thoroughly to make us what we are. i stand to be
corrected, but i think his efforts made it possible for us to be the best set
so far with all the enviable records we left behind.

My biology teacher Mrs. Lemu Adesokan, may God bless you. I ran into her last
saturday at the international airport in Lagos on my way back from the States.
Indidentally, Yomi Olusanya and i had a bit of a discussion about this sort of
thing and when i mentioned it to her, she was delighted. She remains dear to
me. I belive i was one of her favourites....but i gave her problems o,
especially when we were taught reproduction.

How can i forget my economics teacher. The soldier who took over from Mrs
Akangbo, better known as ogboju. He it was that brought out the best in me and
i believe every member of the 88 set. His style made it possible for us to
score the excellent results we achieved.

Mr. Kola Emoruwa, my agric teacher remains very dear to me till today.
Incidentally, i work with his elder brother, who looks more like his twin.

To all these teachers and the others my prayer is that your children will be
better than all those you have taught. You will reap your reward first here on
earth.

finally, to all my friends of the Class of 88, may God bless you all. people
like Obote, Effiom nyong, taju yahaya, Christopher Lelei, Tony Akhidenor, ini
Akpan,Yomi Olusanya and my best pal Promise Sunday. I love you all.

Thank you John for initiating this discussion

I joined command in 1983 and cracking my head down memory lane i can
say that my most memorable teachers starting from form 1 are;

1984; was Lt Amusan. (noble leut. and a gentleman)
1985; Literature in english teacher (called Mrs. Richard Hanny after
the book 39 steps)
1986; Fine Art master Mr. Sandi (guy man !!)
1987; English teacher Mr Ilori. (perfect gentleman)
1988; Geography teacher Mr Ishola (concern CSSJ citizen) na make me get
A1 for geo.

What about you?

Regards,
John Akadang
