We do still support 1.4, and we'll correct the 090 release this weekend. We'll also look at other options for possibly enabling 1.5 features in the future (though we actually are doing that with some reflection tricks in places).

Take a look at XStream's build (Codehaus).  It does a multipart thing
where some classes are compiled for 1.4 and some for 1.5 then all
shoved into one jar that's adaptive in terms of features. Tis pretty
neat - XStream is many people's high-bar Agile project by the way.
