Tom, macromedia has acknowledged the bug - however this was months ago. (look back through this thread and you'll see) Like you said, it would be nice for at least an official work-around. The bug only seems to occur if you use a welcome-page and the users use just the context part of the url (http://server/app). I have since gone back to full path(http://server/app/index.jsp) and haven't heard anything since. Not to say it has gone away for sure...
