  whaddya think I am, a rookie? :) - The problem comes
from a combo of JRun and IIS. If you use Jrun alone
(entering port # in URL) the applet loads fine. If you
move the applet under the IIS structure and change the
codebase in the JSP, the applet loads fine. I poked
around the JRun forums, seems as though Macromedia
thinks it is fixed in a patch/build it put out a while
back  but I have the latest and greatest 3.1 build 
(due to the session issues) and it still occurs.
Putting the applet in a different folder is no big
deal so that is the workaround we are using now.
