First, I obviously responded in a humorous tone and I doubt anyone other
than you interpreted that as "flamebait". Considering you asked what the "$"
was and taking into account your considerable experience in dissecting
JavaScript libs, including jQuery, your question seemed like you were having
some fun. Even Nick asked if you were being facetious because anyone who
knows you even slightly would not expect that you wouldn't know what the
jQuery namespace is.

Next, Asen and I worked hard to come up with the rules for this group and
*I* am hypervigilant about not "flamebaiting", especially because of the
poor experience C.L.J. provided for me. So please don't assume you know my
intentions and give me a little bit of credit before you accuse me of doing
the very thing that inspired me to start this group with Asen. I'd have
thought by now, with the exchanges you and I have had directly, that you'd
know that's not my style and that I like to inject humor into conversations.

Lastly, I'm going to state it officially that people in this group can post
in whichever way they like (i.e.: top post, inline, whatever). I've
mentioned this to you directly before. They're more than welcome to follow
posting guidelines like the ones you've posted in the past but there is no
rule that they have to. If that bothers you that much, you're welcome to
ignore the messages. This group is not Usenet and subscribers can post in
the manner that makes them most comfortable.
