Then you need to become very cozy with a framework of your choice or learn 
everything there is to know about walking the DOM.  I recommend learning your 
way around the DOM.  You will definitely need to learn everything there is to 
know about CSS and how to target CSS properties on DOM nodes using JavaScript.  
If you need to know about advanced interaction then you need to learn about 
events and the implied event argument of functions supplied as event handlers 
and you will also need to know that some unspecified CSS properties on DOM 
nodes have to be interpreted by other means, such as offsetTop and clientHeight.
