I'm sorry, but if everybody used the same approach you do here, this mailing
list would be flooded with questions that have readily available answers
in obvious places (eh, I guess it already is ;-) If you know where to look
for the information you need, why don't you do that? How do you think the
"gurus" learned the things they know?
With the current level of questions dealing with "what is this", "can I do
that", or "how do I configure product XXX", all that are answered in the
specifications and/or vendor documentation, questions about how to do tricky
stuff that's *not* covered by the obvious sources risk drowning in the noise.
I'm still hanging in here, wading through the many hundreds of emails I get
on all the lists I subscribe to, because once in a while there's a thread
that's really interesting or I see a chance to help someone who has a
hard time figuring out what the specifications really says. But the hours
I have to spend finding these rare mails is soon becoming more than I can
handle, considering I have a lot of other things to do, like earning a
living ;-)
Sorry to get down on you so hard; you're not the only "offender". But I hope
that everyone on this list, and other lists, stop and think a bit about where
it's likely the answer can be found before posting a question to the list. Be
aware that every mail ends up in close to 4,000 mail boxes ...
Every mail on this list has a list of URLs in the footer to sites where 90% of
the questions asked are answered. In addition, you can search through the
archives of this and many other mailing lists at:
<http://archives.java.sun.com/archives/index.html>
Sorry for the rant ;-)
