Why is there a space in uname?
where uname = ' " + uname + " ' ";
this will result to a "where uname = ' my_uname ';
depending on the settings of your database,
"where uname = ' my_uname ';
is different compared to:
"where uname = 'my_uname';
[without leading and trailing spaces]
