Try in below fashion:

String updateip ="Update tbluser set incomingip= ? where uname = '" + uname
+ "' ";

PreparedStatement pstmt =  conn.prepareStatement(updateip);
pstmt.setString(column_index_of_incomingip, "10.10.10.10");
pstmt.executeUpdate();

I tried your way already, no error came up, but no update action too, still
remain to the old value, but I can use this way to update record in SQL
server Query Analyzer without any problem at all.

Thanks!

Try in this fashion:

String updateip ="Update tbluser set incomingip='10.10.10.10' where uname =
' " + uname + " ' ";

This time I even hardcode a IP adress in the source code see if the SQL
statement can update to 10.10.10.10, but get this error.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Invalid character in number.
                String updateip ="Update tbluser set incomingip='"
+10.10.10.10+ "' where uname = ' " + uname + " ' ";

Hi...

The your sql statements should be like this,

String updateip ="Update tbluser set incomingip= '" +
request.getRemoteAddr() + "' where uname ='" + uname + "'";

Wayan

Source code:

---------------------------------------------
String updateip ="Update tbluser set incomingip= 'request.getRemoteAddr()'
where uname ='" + uname + "'";

-----------------------------------------------

No erro come up, but it didn't put remote Ip address into SQL server's
table, value is "null", if I change to
 "  '+request.getRemoteAddr()+'  ",  you will see
'+request.getRemoteAddr()+' as the value in table.

Don't know why, looks like request.getRemoteAddr() doesn't function in SQL
statement. Pls advise, thanks!
