Seems a good idea to me (still, there was another argument about usability of checkbox on some devices) Another point is the setVisibility of images : I don't know why we have a checkbox similar to normal layer checkbox for the old image framework, but the new raster framework works differently (no check box, I think a simple click change the visibility, but I've not a good experience with this). We don't have to move too fast though, as we should only cleanup when we are sure what the best place is.
