More information: Apparently the buzzword to look for is support for JSR 209 "Advanced Graphics and User Interface (AGUI)". See: http://developers.sun.com/mobility/midp/articles/guiapis/
Apparently it isn't widely supported: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/joconner/archive/j2me/index.html That just about kills my interest in this project. If someone finds a real device with JSR 209 support, I'll look again. Without Swing, the whole UI would have to be rewritten. regards, Larry On 10/3/07, Larry Becker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Found the following Restrictions: > > The BlackBerry Wireless Handheld VM has the following restrictions, as > specified by CLDC 1.1:• > * no object finalization•no java.lang.Error class hierarchy > •* no user class loading• > * no reflection, therefore no support for Remote Method Invocation (RMI) > or Jini™ network technology• > * no native methods• > * no Runtime.exec() for running external processes > > That looks pretty bad.
