I did it the same way the german localization was done. BTW most people
consider the ISO-8859-1 (ISO-LATIN-1) - or even -11 with Euro currency
support :) - the default charset for coding Java.

I can replace non US-ASCII chars if Jon prefers, but it will also tie up
the code with HTML output (same problem as with  ). And... it's very
difficult to maintain...
