I've been using k9 for a long time on a Galaxy S2 (k9 4.409 and Android 2.3.5), and just recently set it up on a Galaxy Tab S running Android 4.4 and k9 4.803 by importing the settings from the phone. For some reason, I don't always see a notification when new mail arrives. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, but the k9 widget that shows the unread count does go up by 1. Any idea what could be causing this?
Also, I had expected that with Android 4.4 the notifications would allow actions to be performed on messages (so-called "rich notifications"), but I don't see that. Does this work for other people?
