I have experimented further, and here is the behaviour that I see: You can expand or collapse the notifications using pinch zoom. The last zoom state of the notifications is remembered. If there is only one unread message, I see Reply, Mark Read, and Delete options, and I also see the excerpt of the message when zoomed in. If there is more than one unread message, I see Mark Read and Delete, and only the From/Subject of each message. I believe that the actions you see depend on some settings you can set.
