Thanks for the advice. I have Thunderbird on my desktop at work and it can
send message through port 587 of my mail server at home without problem. I
just tested it. My password didn't change and I didn't change it.

My test mail sent at 12:07 finally arrived at 12:56 but only after my phone
switched to wifi once I was home for lunch.

There is definitely something weird going on with my phone or the data link
of my provider.
What could I do on the phone or with k9mail to gather more information on
the possible cause of this ?

I'm using root less firewall. I will completely block K9mail to check if it
is really k9mail that is trying to make the failing connections.
