I have noticed that this problem does not occur if my Nexus tablet is plugged into the mains power supply. When plugged-in the checking for my POP mail continues indefinitely, but if running on the battery the syncing stops at some point (1-4 hours) even if the battery is still showing full. Has anybody else noticed it is OK if on mains power? I suspect this "problem" may relate to a change in the latest release, which I seem to recalled introduced changes to stop excessive battery usage. Battery usage may be a problems on smart phones but not on my tablet so maybe this could become a selectable on/off function at the next release?
