I recently upgraded to a Moto G5 with Android 7 and I have the same problem. Mess about with the sync settings and you get a message like 'Next sync 3 hours ago' ,then K-9 will sync once, promise to sync again in however many minutes one has it set to, but the second sync never seems to occur. Open the app and the accounts show 'syncing disabled'. And notifications, when it does sync, sometimes appear, sometimes not. Such a pity, I hope it can be fixed, because I really liked K-9 before (except for all the 1st Class and 2nd Class carry on).
