Stephen: Heya. For "inter-machine file-transfer" (secured with encryption, too) Kaboodle is about as easy to use as I've seen. After being asked more than a few times, I've scheduled upgrading this capability to include "folder synchronization" as well.
As for running on Linux...a "quicker" solution might be to build a Java applet that gets served by one of the Kaboodle instances on the LAN. This applet would be built to have as most of the capabilities as the Windows version (ie, it could probably do everything that a non-Master Node instance could do). FWIW, a "Kaboodle Master Node" is the one PC on the LAN that does most of the Kaboodle heavy-lifting: it endpoints the VPN connections, it actively pings the "known device list" of machines every 5 seconds, it serves up the Java GUI, etc. Thing is...I don't really like the name "Kaboodle Master Node". Anyone have any better suggestions before I write thge documentation? -Scott On Tue, 15 Oct 2002, Stephen Liu wrote: > Hi Scott, > > At 07:03 PM 10/14/2002 +0000, Scott C. Best wrote: > > Heya.
