--- Comment #90 from Gabriel Tenita <[email protected]> ---
Well, being passionate communicates better by being accommodating.

I do agree that "Dolphin should behave like all the other file managers" cannot
be a valid metric - even if all other file managers would have the same
behaviour, which I'm pretty sure is not the case. Good UI products
differentiate by better management of the user expectations, not by following
the status quo. That being said, I'll always take good things even from Windows
File Manager.

All this debate sparked my curiosity and took a quick look at several file
managers (I'm on Manjaro):
1. Nemo and Windows File Manager hides the folder creation options in the
context menu on selected folder. When done by keyboard shortcuts or menu
options, it will create the new folder in the current folder (not the selected
one). I was not smart enough to activate the tree view in the file panel list
view like in pallaswept's video.
2. Dolphin and PCManFM-Qt will create the new folder in the selected folder,
regardles of using keyboard shortcuts, menu or context menu options.
I kinda like more the way Nemo and Windows File Manager force me to always be
in the location the new folders are created.
I think I might be OK with Dolphin/PCManFM-Qt's way if the context menu on
selected folder would say "Create new folder inside this folder" - although the
top menu options are not aware of the context (I think), I presume not many are
using them.

I'm OK with the behaviour depicted in pallaswept's video because I can see what
is doing, which cannot be said about all other views. So, instead of trying to
enforce global behaviours, the better solution would be to adopt the least
friction behaviour for each view.
