Many users do not experience desktop architecture. They experience a taskbar,
dock, or panel at the bottom of the screen.
A user should not need to understand that the panel background is controlled by
a Plasma theme asset merely to change its color, much less install a
third-party widget to do so.
In my case, I installed Panel Colorizer specifically to accomplish this, but it
did not work with the current KDE Linux development build. The built-in panel
configuration also offered opaque, translucent, and adaptive settings, but none
of them had any visible effect.
Please consider adding a simple built-in panel color picker, along with an
opacity control, while preserving the existing theme-based behavior as the
default.
If KDE Linux is meant to succeed, leading through thoughtful design, not
technical capability alone, will make the difference.
