Bug ID: 524544
Summary: Desktop icons occsionally become unclickable
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.4
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
I recently encounter issues during wayland sessions, when all desktop icons
occasionally become unclickable. The lower window bar is still working (with
mouse) and all open windows can be accessed/ interacted with, too. In addition
I can launch any program via the start menu. It is only the desktop which would
not allow any mouse interaction.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Login to Wayland session
2. Work
3. Observe icons occasionally become unclickable
OBSERVED RESULT
File icons cannot be clicked, moved, deleted. Context menu over desktop is not
available.
EXPECTED RESULT
Everything on the desktop can be accessed.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.29.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.1.8-200.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-3450S CPU @ 2.80GHz
Memory: 24 GiB of RAM (23.4 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Rebooting and re-logging in does not solve the issue.
I tried to solve it with AI support and switching from wayland to x11 seems to
solve the issue. But on the long run, this means switching to legacy
technology.
Unfortunately, I could not find any meaningful logs. Therefore I kindly ask for
some support in order to track the problem down. How should I proceed?
Please note that I filed this first on discuss.kde.org, where I found
combatants observing the same behavior:
