Thanks for the clarification. Checked both:

* pinentry-qt 1.3.3 (well above 1.3.0)
* qca-qt6 2.3.12-1 (no older qca package installed alongside it)
* PINENTRY_KDE_USE_WALLET not set anywhere

Neither of the causes you mentioned applies to my setup. I had added
no-allow-external-cache to gpg-agent.conf as suggested elsewhere in this
thread, and after rebooting, the original error
(secret_service_load_collections_sync: assertion 'paths != NULL' failed /
"Could not connect to Secret Service") no longer appears in my logs at all. So
whatever the underlying cause was in my case, that workaround appears to have
resolved it — kwallet 6.29.0-1, EndeavourOS, Plasma 6.7.4.
