I wanted to suggest it because I think it could be useful, but I do understand that it may not be worth the effort, and I'm fine with it being rejected. The primary reason is that some file types have several equally valid applications depending on the task. For example SVG, PDF, HTML, images, etc. so there isn't always one meaningful default. If you switch between applications often, clicking and selecting from several options in a window can be more ergonomic and accessible than navigating a menu. However, what prompted me to file this was accidentally clicking on a .bat file that was associated with Faugus Launcher. It created a Wine prefix and started a service in the background without me intending to run it.
