Bug ID: 527025
Summary: Scheduler: "Re-schedule errors" checkbox is never
saved, unchecked again after every restart
Classification: Applications
Product: kstars
Version First 3.8.5
Reported In:
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
----- Description -----
In the Scheduler "Aborted Job Management" box, the "Re-schedule errors"
checkbox is not
persisted. After a KStars restart it is always unchecked again (unless a .esl
file containing
<RescheduleErrors /> is loaded), so jobs that end in error (e.g. a guiding or
calibration step
that times out) are never rescheduled, whatever the user chose.
The debug log shows it at every start:
Option "errorHandlingRescheduleErrorsCB" not found!
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the Scheduler, check "Re-schedule errors".
2. Quit and restart KStars.
3. Open the Scheduler again.
OBSERVED RESULT
The checkbox is unchecked.
EXPECTED RESULT
The checkbox keeps its state, like the error handling strategy and delay next
to it.
CAUSE
Scheduler::loadGlobalSettings() / syncSettings() look options up by widget
object name. The
checkbox is named errorHandlingRescheduleErrorsCB while the option is
RescheduleErrors, so the
generic mechanism neither loads nor saves it. syncGUIToGeneralSettings() loads
it explicitly from
Options::rescheduleErrors(), but nothing calls Options::setRescheduleErrors()
from the GUI (only
the .esl loader does). The error handling delay next to it has an explicit
connect() to its
option; the checkbox does not.
FIX
A merge request on invent.kde.org adds the same kind of connect() for the
checkbox in
Scheduler::setupScheduler() (kstars/ekos/scheduler/scheduler.cpp). Renaming the
widget to match
the option would also work, but touches more code and the translations'
context.
Compile-checked against master (e8e91446, 2026-10-13). Merge request: (link to

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KStars 3.8.5 (Flatpak, org.kde.kstars stable), also present in master as of
2026-10-13.
Linux (Kubuntu).
