In my case the cursor *does* move after the desktop freezes. At times I even
had a blinking cursor in LibreOffice when everything else was dead. I don't
have a black screen, though - all windows are still there, just frozen. The
graphics-driver is Intel.

And how would you explain that versions <= 5.17.5 and also xfce (same box) are
*not* affected?
