I just respond to this, as this is very true. And one cause of why bug number keeps growing. If the developer keeps an eye on the bug list, or check from time to time them after a fixing bugs, then such old bugs would have been closed. When you work and find an bug that might affect more users, chances are that somebody reported at, so it worths to do a search in bugzilla and close those bugs.
