Right.

Remember that mainline contains kde-42, which in turn contains kde-41. Or, 
the other way around, kde-41 is a subset of kde-42, which is a subset of 
mainline.

All of them contain the imported history.

Previous releases are kept somewhere in the attic. Releases made from Git 
are tags.
