You will be thrilled to know that this is not the case! In fact, 
"containerization" and "virtualization" are mostly terms related to servers 
where the GUI is non-existent or apps that are run through Flatpak and the 
like, which is also not what Wayland is.

Unless you were thinking about the increased security that Wayland provides? 
Surely not, as I can't imagine someone being against that.

You say that you've looked into it, but perhaps a refresher is in order? I 
suggest the Wikipedia page, it has a nice section comparing Wayland to other 
systems: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland_(protocol)

I do believe that you should look into running Wayland again on your system(s) 
and create bugs where necessary.
