So the problem only appears on kernel version 4 into 64bits system.

   When you insert ipod suffle docker into usb you can see into syslog
  (tail -f /var/log/syslog )

device number 64 using xhci_hcd
  Sep 16 18:42:40 lenovin kernel: [ 4687.266269] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB 
device number 65 using xhci_hcd
  Sep 16 18:42:41 lenovin kernel: [ 4688.676394] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB 
device number 71 using xhci_hcd
  Sep 16 18:42:41 lenovin kernel: [ 4688.972868] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB 
device number 72 using xhci_hcd
  Sep 16 18:42:42 lenovin kernel: [ 4689.517711] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB 
device number 74 using xhci_hcd
  .......... till you disconect the ipod, but it's never mounted (really it is 
never associate a usb port )

     At another notebook, with uses ehci-pci (Linux kernel
  4.4.0-22-generic i686 ) all ok
