At my last job we had some gerbers that had been outsourced and had been originally generated using PADS. We could not import the project file, and I had to resort to manually editing the gerber layers and drill files when I needed to add a component. One of the bizarre things I found is that the gerber layers had an origin at the lower left hand corner of the board, while the gerber layers had an origin way far out below and to the left. I had to find the offset between the two when I added my component and moved a couple of others to get the gerber layers and drill files to mesh. The difference was a really odd number, too, not something even like 7 inches. It was something like x15 mils on one axis, and some other odd number on the other. Good to hear from you, Roger.
