The Eagle   .brd files are EAGLE PROPRIETARY and not Gerber format!!!!

The KiCad GERBER files are readable.

You CANNOT send the KiCad datafiles to your PCB manufacturer if he only 
supports Gerber. You have to PLOT the KiCad files first. These Gerber files 
will have the extension   .pho
