I had no luck with the Linux executables so I tried on my Windows machine. The
problem with the DRC checks on the zones was not fixed in the latest version
(r1914). I did manage to get everything explicitly connected my placing traces
in the middle of the zones as was suggested. Perhaps when the DRC checking
gets fixed I can go back and take those superfluous traces back out.

I did run into another strange issue. I had some tracks with overlapping
segments and the DRC did not realize they were connected! I had to spend a
couple of hours deleting and recreating those tracks. Is there possibly a
"cleanup" function or program that I can run to detect such conditions and
"merge" overlaying segments into a single segment? It would have saved me a
LOT of time.

Thanks again to the entire KiCAD community for such a wonderful product and
support! Next time I will pick a much simpler board for my first attempt!

Greg

This issue was dealt with, but I can't remember when it was dealt
with. You can try an SVN snapshot version to see if a more up-to-date
one simply eliminates your problems.

You can get an SVN snapshot from http://kicad.1301.cz/

Best Regards,

Brian.
