Be careful, folks. The pin functions (C-B-E vs E-B-C, etc) are not the same for all TO-92 transistors. The pin numbering is not consistent between manufacturers, either (Fairchild 1-2-3 vs Philips 3-2-1).
Check the datasheet of the manufacturer whose part you intend to use. It's soooo embarrassing when the part doesn't match the footprint of the board you built. :-( Cheers, - Jan (Been there, done that.)
