You are of course, welcome to resign. 

However, please note that committer's time to work on projects typically ebb 
and flow. It's not unusual to have someone's time consumed by higher priority 
personal, business, etc priorities for a while, but then have them show back up 
in 6 months time and start contributing again. So, you are also welcome to go 
away for a while, then come back -- should time permit. In this case, you don't 
have to do anything...

Projects can have emeritus status. I don't recall ever seeing someone going 
emeritus from an Incubator project. I don't think this is necessary. Should you 
resign and then decide you'd like to return, I doubt the community would have 
issues voting you back into the community.

So, let us know what you'd like to do.
