> Sectarian UFF Flag Flying from Oldpark Road Library - IRSP
>
> The IRSP have condemned those who have erected a UFF flag on the top of
> Oldpark library in North Belfast as the library is used by school children
> from both sides of the community.
>
> IRSP north Belfast spokesperson Paul Little said:
>
> "How on earth are members of the nationalist community supposed to use the
> Oldpark library with the emblem of an organisation that has murdered so
> many of our community flying so prominently from its roof. It should be
> remembered that this library is supposed to serve both communities, also
> that primary school children from an after schools group in the
> Cliftonville area were intimidated out of the same library in 1999.
>
> The IRSP are calling on the Library board to have the offensive flag
> removed immediately, nationalist families in North Belfast run this
> gauntlet of sectarian hatred on a daily basis if they wish to use
> facilities such as the library or the leisure centres that other people
> take for granted.
>
> In conclusion the IRSP representative said:
>
> "The time is long since passed that these emblems can be excused as
symbols
> of protestant cultural identity, there sole purpose is the intimidation of
> north Belfast catholic community. The IRSP are calling for the flag to be
> removed and sectarianism to be confronted where ever it raises its ugly
head."
