YUGOSLAVIA - QATAR APPEAL FOR EQUALITY IN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY DOHA,
June 17 (Tanjug) - Qatar has always been against sanctions, regardless of
the country in question, because they do not solve any problems but in fact
create new ones, Qatar Foreign Minister Ahmad bin Abdulah al-Mahmoud said
in talks with Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic in Doha on
Saturday. The Yugoslav minister's official two-day visit to Qatar, and
Friday's working visit to Cairo and talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister
Amr Moussa, have confirmed that Yugoslavia has good relations with Arab
countries. These relations, it was demonstrated today in talks with the
foreign minister, and with Finance, Economics and Trade Minister Yousef
Hussein Khamal, are characterized by mutual respect and urging for an equal
position in the international community for all countries, regardless of
their size, economic or military power. Jovanovic and al-Mahmoud confirmed
the two countries' similar stands on terrorism and the methods for fighting
this evil of the modern world. Terrorism is always terrorism, and the
approach to its uprooting cannot be partial and with the use of double
standards, it was heard at the talks. The Jovanovic-al-Mahmoud meeting was
the first held at this level between the two countries since they
established diplomatic relations in 1989. That is why the bulk of the talks
was devoted to getting acquainted with key moments in the development of
the two countries. Qatar and Yugoslavia see the world's future in the
realization of peace and stability, with the preservation of state
equality, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and respect for the
principle of non-interference in internal affairs. Minister Jovanovic
informed his host about the fiasco of the United Nations mission in the
Yugoslav republic of Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija province, the
consequences of the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia, the region and Europe in
general, and stressed the speedy renewal and modernization of the country.
Jovanovic devoted much attention in the talks to the expansion of economic
and other forms of cooperation with the host country.

QATAR PM RECEIVES MINISTER JOVANOVIC DOHA, June 18 (Tanjug) - Qatar Prime
Minister Sheikh Abdal bin Khalif Al-Thani received Yugoslav Foreign
Minister Zivadin Jovanovic in Doha on Sunday and expressed satisfaction in
cordial terms at the first official visit to Qatar of a Yugoslav delegation
since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries
in 1989. The sides agreed regarding principles which should govern
relations in the international community and that all countries must be
equal, regardless of size or power. Sheikh Abdal Al-Thani said he was
familiar with the legitimate rights of Yugoslavia to reactivate its
membership in the Non-Aligned Movement and the United Nations, which he
said could not be questioned in any way. He showed keen interest in
Yugoslavia's foreign policy stands, relations with neighbours, the
situation in Yugoslavia and its economy. The Qatar prime minister also
wanted to know about the situation in Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija
province, about which Minister Jovanovic informed him in detail. Jovanovic
explained that the essence of the Kosovo crisis was not alleged protection
of human and minority rights, but separatism and terrorism which is backed
from abroad. Jovanovic said that after many years of systematic painting of
a false picture about Yugoslavia's intentions and policy, facts were now
being revealed and the truth told. That negative picture had been created
with the intention of causing a destabilization of the region, dismembering
states, so that it could be easier to manipulate the region, Jovanovic
said. The sides underscored the importance of the presence so far of
Yugoslav companies in key infrastructure and other projects in Qatar.
Expectations were expressed that even more Yugoslav companies and experts
would find their place in the attractive Qatar market. This expectation was
also expressed in talks between Jovanovic and Minister of Power, Industry,
Electricity, and Water Abdullah bin Hammad Al-Atiyah.

full implementation of Resolution 1244. During the meeting, the sides
