NA Issues Resolution on Ratification of Vietnam-China Land Border Treaty
The National Assembly issued a resolution in Hanoi on June 19 ratifying the
land border treaty between Vietnam and China. The resolution says that
Vietnam affirms its determination to build, together with China, the
Vietnam-China borderline into one of peace, friendship and lasting
stability, thus contributing to maintaining and developing the traditional
friendly and neighbourly relationship between the two countries on the
basis of respect for each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial
integrity, non-intrusion into each other's territory, non-interference in
each other's internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit and peaceful
co-existence. Under the resolution, the government is assigned to instruct
competent agencies to complete necessary preparations for the signing of a
protocol on demarcating the borderline, setting up landmarks along the
borderline and drawing a detailed map. The government will allocate funds
for the implementation of the treaty, and adjustment and supplementation of
current regulations relating to borderline management. It will, together
with China's relevant agencies, strictly implement the treaty and promptly
solve arising issues. The government will also provide guidance to relevant
agencies in their implementation of the treaty. (VNA)
