-------------------------------- PRESS RELEASE IRISH FREEDOM COMMITTEE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10/09/00 CONTACT: Joe Dillon, National Chairman P.O. Box 182 Boston, MA 02122 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----------------------------------------- TRIAL BY MEDIA STALKING The Irish Freedom Committee condemns the mass arrests last week of republican activists, timed for maximum public effect with tonight's sensationalist trial by media stalking in BBC's Panorama broadcast. Where normal due process has failed, the State has now turned to the media in an attempt to rally mass hysteria against individuals who have neither been tried nor convicted of the atrocity tonight's program attempts to frame them for. This tactic of filming individuals entering and leaving their homes, and creating the inference of guilt through media speculation; borders on libelous. When judicial bodies are not able to make their case, the media is not judge, and the viewing public not jury; in any legitimate court of law. ENDS ------------------------------------------- Irish Freedom Committee News List - N/A BREAKING NEWS: POW Severely Attacked in England News has just reached Irish Freedom Committee POW Chairperson Maria Todd, Colorado IFC; that one of the three students jailed in England, Darren Mulholland, has been severely beaten in Frankland Prison in an attack led by an inmate who is reportedly an ex-Para.
