of a sudden.
As soldiers of the Korean People's Army took a prompt self-defensive
measure, the fighter planes flew
back to Kanghwa Island.
This incident was a product of the deliberate and premeditated moves of
the U.S. warlike forces to
aggravate the daily improving situation on the Korean peninsula.
The U.S. military authorities should own full responsibility for the

Minju Joson on Japan's short-sighted thinking
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A national education institute under
the Ministry of Culture of Japan
was reported to have discussed a problem related to the moral condition of
the Japanese students and decided
to develop a new school method and teaching materials needed for the moral
education as a measure to solve
it.
In this connection, Minju Joson today says in a signed commentary: We
do not know what sort of moral
issue Japan intends to solve. But one thing is clear. Japan is shelving the
issue of its redress for its past
crimes, a most serious moral problem pending an urgent solution.
The commentary goes on:
The Japanese right-wing reactionaries are evading their moral
responsibility for redressing its past crimes
and reflecting this stand in history textbooks without any modification.
If Japan, considerate of its future, truly wishes to see the sound
moral development of the rising
generation, it should know well what is most urgent. Any short-sighted
action will only invite misfortune.
It is a priority task for Japan to redeem its past crimes.
Solutions to all problems such as challenges of Japan's diplomacy,
moral education of students, etc,
depend on the fulfillment of this priority task.
Japan is well advised to face up to the reality and make a right
judgement and decision.

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A consultative meeting of the presidium
of the International Liaison
Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea (CILRECO) was held in France
on Oct. 14 and 15.
The meeting reviewed the international signature campaign for
supporting the three-point charter of
Korea's reunification which was conducted at the initiative of the CILRECO,
and discussed the future action
program.
It said that the participation of more than a hundred million people of
many countries in the five
continents in the campaign in a short span of time clearly showed that the
three-point charter is the most fair
and aboveboard and reasonable programme indicating the way of Korea's
reunification and the world people
unanimously want the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.
The meeting underscored the need to more vigorously conduct on a
worldwide scale the movement for
supporting the three-point charter mounting through the international
signature campaign and build up
international public opinion exposing and denouncing the moves of the
anti-reunification forces.
It stressed the need to inquire and confirm the future action program
of the CILRECO in conformity with
the requirements of the changed situation and agreed to discuss the
measures related to this at the next

momentum to the present reconciliation
process on the Korean peninsula and condemn the anti-reunification forces

Unconverted long-term prisoner on care of motherland
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Ri Jong, An unconverted long-term
prisoner, made public a note
"Grateful motherland that saved my life twice".
In the note he said that for our fellow countrymen the care of the
motherland precisely means the loving
care of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Under their deep
loving care, I was saved twice from
a critical situation, he noted, and continued:
On June 28, 1950 when a tank of the advancing people's army made its
way through an iron gate of
Sodaemun prison in Seoul to save patriots I was among them. As the oldest
unconverted long-term prisoner
aged 89, I was reborn under the loving care of Kim Jong Il, the care of the
motherland.
I could return home because I was firmly convinced that Kim Jong Il
would certainly look for me.
Those who live believing in the great leaders are, indeed, the happiest
people and only they can become
strong men.
Samsong Temple on Mt. Kuwol
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Samsong Temple on Mt. Kuwol, a famous
mountain of Korea, has
been reconstructed.
The temple was the oldest one in Korea in which the people had held
memorial services to Tangun, father
of the Korean nation, from ancient Korea. From late Koryo dynasty memorial
services had been given for
Tangun, his father Hwan Ung and grandfather Hwan In.
Samsong Temple covering more than 4,000 square meters has its main
building, Samsong shrine,
Yanghyon shrine for training good-natured sages and Yongbin shrine for
receiving guests, Jonsa shrine for
keeping incense and various materials for memorial services, lodging house
of temple keepers and
gable-roofed gate.
The Samsong shrine where memorial services were made for Tangun, Hwan
Ung and Hwan In, is a
multi-colored building with a gable roof and double eaves.
There are a portrait of Tangun in the center of the shrine and
portraits of his grandfather and father on its
western and eastern sides.
The portrait of Tangun shows the dignity, strong disposition and wisdom
as a ruler of the country.
The President Kim Il Sung, in his lifetime, referring to the historical
remains on Mt. Kuwol related with
Tangun, proposed restoring Samsong Temple to its original state which was
burned to ashes in the 1920s by
the Japanese imperialists in pursuance of their policy to erase Tangun from
the Korean history.
The great leader Kim Jong Il visited Mt. Kuwol in September, Juche 86
(1997) and gave a concrete
instruction on finishing the reconstruction of Samsong Temple at an early date.
He acquainted himself with the completion of the temple last August and
settled issues in preserving it
one by one.
It is one of the important state policies to take good care of national
culture heritages in Korea.
