International Olympic Solidarity Workshop held
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- An International Olympic Solidarity
Workshop for Athletic Coaches was held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium from
October 23 to 26. It was attended by coaches of various sports groups and
schools in Pyongyang and local areas and officials in the field of sports
science and education.
David Sunderland, lecturer from the Association of the International
Athletic Federation, gave a lecture on the physiological and biochemical
change of long and medium distance runners and theoretical and practical
problems arising in working out plans for lecture and training of athletes
and their methods.

Japan's escalated moves for overseas aggression under fire
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries' bid to
revise the "Law on Cooperation in UN Peace-Keeping Activities" is not aimed
to solve issues of international disputes and peace but prompted by their
foul intention to use their participation in the "UN Peacekeeping Operation"
as a legal pretext to invade other countries any time, says Rodong Sinmun
today in a signed article. This indicates that the Japanese reactionaries
have become ever more undisguised in their moves for overseas aggression
under the pretext of "international contribution" and they have entered a
very dangerous phase, the article says, and goes on:
The international community welcomes Japan's economic cooperation with
other countries, but opposes with high alertness its moves to dispatch its
forces abroad for military actions.
What is ridiculous is that the Japanese reactionaries are working hard
to revise the law under the pretence that "SDF" would participate in
"peacekeeping activities" to be required right after the conclusion of the
war in Afghanistan.
It is by no means an accidental coincidence that the keynote of the
amendment to the "Law on Cooperation in UN Peacekeeping Activities" was set
out by the Japanese reactionaries in the wake of the passage of the "bill on
supporting anti-terror measures" through the house of representatives.
The Japanese militarists' overseas aggression has rapidly entered a
practical phase. With no trick can the Japanese reactionaries cover up their
dream of overseas aggression.
This aggression, too, will lead them to self-destruction.
The Japanese reactionaries are well advised to face up to the reality
today and stop acting rashly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joint council for full freedom of assembly and demonstration formed in S.
Korea
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic
Society, the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and 90 other
citizens and public organizations in South Korea formed the joint council
for full freedom of assembly and demonstration in Seoul on Oct. 23, the
Yonhap News reported. The organization in an inaugural declaration said that
the present "Law on Assembly and Demonstration" includes poisonous articles,
which seriously restrict or violate the right of assembly and demonstration.
Pointing to the unreasonableness of typical poisonous articles including
"prior ban on assembly" and "ban on assembly after sunset," It demanded
their revision.
It declared that it would conduct various campaigns to provide the bill
on revising the "law on assembly and demonstration" and put it into
practice.

Friendly gathering with Thai government youth delegation
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A friendly gathering with the members of
the Thai government delegation of officials responsible for youth affairs
took place at the central youth hall yesterday. Invited there were the
members of the delegation headed by Krasae Chanawongse, minister to the
prime minister's office responsible for youth affairs.
Present there were Choe Hwi, secretary of the c.c., the Kim Il Sung
Socialist Youth League, officials of the league and those who performed
innovations in the construction of the youth hero motorway.
 Speeches were made there.
The participants talked about activities of the two youth organizations
and enjoyed an art performance, deepening the feelings of friendship.

Stop to Japan's moves to revive militarism urged
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Pusan regional students' committee
for the promotion of the joint national functions for the implementation of
the June 15 joint declaration reportedly issued a statement on Oct. 15
denouncing Japan for recently working hard to convert it into a military
power and revive militarism. After the terrorist attacks in the United
States, Japan spread a rumor about "threat from the north" and claimed that
"South Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation system should be intensified", revealing
its intention to dampen the desire for exchange, cooperation and unity
between the north and the south with moves to escalate the tensions, the
statement said, and went on:
Japan should clearly know the cause of angry shouts "We oppose Japan,
departed soul of militarism" ringing out from the people from all walks of
life in South Korea, sincerely apologize for the past history of aggression
and stop its moves to turn it into a military power and revive militarism.

New ambassador to Egypt appointed
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Jon Hui Jong was appointed as DPRK
ambassador e.p. to Egypt, according to a decree of the Presidium of the DPRK
Supreme People's Assembly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on Oct. 25 sent a message of

Expressing belief that the friendly relations between the two countries
would grow stronger in the new century, too, it wished him great success in
his responsible work for national unity and prosperity of the country.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, yesterday sent a message of
